FREE WEBINAR. NOVEMBER 30th. CLICK HERE for more information.

Dear NYC SHRM Member:

Is someone in your organization a Caregiver or do you know someone who is? Chances are you answered yes.  Caregiver support is growing more urgent as employees from the ‘Sandwich Generation’ juggle work with caring for older relatives. As you know, employers lose billions each year as a result of absenteeism, decreased productivity and increase healthcare costs.

Of the one million people in NYC who care for chronically ill or elderly family members, one-third work full time and worry about the future.  Now, with grants from the NYC Department of Health and Department for the Aging, assistance for these New Yorkers is available free of charge through the auspices of PSS Circle of Care.   Circle of Care has been enabled to and has the obligation to support caregivers city-wide.

We are reaching out to NYC SHRM member organizations to assist their caregiver employees, provide them with information and help them navigate available resources.   PSS Circle of Care can work with your company to build an internal program or provide a general service to caregivers as a benefit you provide.   The following are some key benefits of PSS Circle of Care:

·         Provide Caregiver 101 seminars to your staff about being a Caregiver, as well as workshops for caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias

·         One-on-one care consultation for family caregivers

·         Development of a care plan

·         Referrals to resources and assistance in enrolling for vital entitlements

·         Short-term respite opportunities e.g. in-home care or adult day services

·         Caregiver Support Groups-- in person, by phone or online

·         Training in stress and anxiety management

·         A sense of community among this underserved population.

·         For more detail please visit

Please join PSS in making these free crucial services available to the caregivers in your organization.

ABOUT PSS:  Since 1962 PSS has made a difference in the lives of older New Yorkers, their families and communities. From modest beginnings, this multi-service agency is now a recognized leader in the fields of Social Services and Caregiver Support: It encompasses nine senior centers, two senior and intergenerational residences, a broad network of Family and Kinship Caregiver Support Programs, and Coming of Age NYC, a program designed to enhance the lives of New Yorkers over age 50.  PSS is among the nine organizations selected to participate in Governor Cuomo's $67.5 million Alzheimer's Caregiver Support initiative. This funding has enabled PSS Circle of Care to expanded its scope, offering services --care plan, short term respite, referrals and more --to family Caregivers who look after an estimated 380,000 New Yorkers living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
