The 2018 Legislative & Legal Conference

The All-Day Legislative & Legal Conference will feature speakers from leading New York law firms presenting on five of the latest issues involving labor and employment law and how they impact your practice. We will feature a legal update presentations on recent changes to relevant federal, state and city laws, including NYS and NYC laws on anti-harassment training and policy requirements, how NYC’s law on cooperative dialogue might change your workplace accommodation discussions, plus a presentation on conducting investigations in the era of #MeToo, and highlights from the NLRB and the Supreme Court’s most recent term.

 

  • Linda Carlozzi and Richard Greenberg of Jackson Lewis P.C. will present on recent changes to relevant federal, state and city laws, including anti-harassment training and policy updates, highlights from the NLRB and the Supreme Court’s recent term.
  • Alexis S. Axelrad of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP will give an update on the latest in immigration trends and concerns, including the latest memos and policy announcements, changes to the landscape on lawful business immigration, proposed public charge/affidavit of support regulations, and tips on best practices.
  • Tania J. Mistretta of Jackson Lewis P.C. will present on workplace accommodations, including the requirements of cooperative dialogue under the new NYC law, and the developing approach to service animals and emotional support animals in the workplace.
  • S. Jeanine Conley of Littler Mendelson, P.C. will present on Conducting Lawful Investigations in the Wake of #MeToo, which will highlight certain legal issues that may arise when conducting internal investigations into policy violations and allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
  • Katherin Nukk-Freeman of Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P.C. and SHIFT HR Compliance Training will present on Essential Tactics to Combat Unconscious Bias in the Workplace, including an engaging presentation on unconscious bias itself and a discussion of the importance of creating awareness of unconscious bias in the workplace.
