Documentary Film Screening and Q&A

Presented by the Womens Initiatives SIG

We know the names Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg.  But what about female entrepreneurs?  What’s their story?  If you’ve been asking yourself the same, you should join us for a screening of Dream, Girl and Q&A with feminist turned filmmaker, Erin Bagwell.  From startups to million-dollar industries, it’s time we stop telling girls they can be anything they want to be and show them first-hand what it takes to be a leader.  Dream, Girl is a powerful documentary that premiered in May 2016 at the White House and showcases the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs.

You will walk away from this 60-minute film screening and Q&A with:

Knowledge of what it takes to be a leader today;
An understanding of how others have dealt with discrimination in their fields;
Tips on achieving work-life balance; and
Advice on identifying and avoiding self-sabotaging behavior

There will be Q&A afterward with Erin Bagwell, Brooklyn-based filmmaker and feminist blogger.  In 2014, Bagwell launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising over $100,000 in funding to produce her first feature length film Dream, Girl.   In May 2016, the film debuted at the White House as part of the United State of Women Summit followed by a sold out screening at the iconic Paris Theater in New York City.  Her story has been featured in Forbes, TED, Vogue, and The Washington Post.  Bagwell was also named one of Oprah’s SuperSoul100, a list featuring extraordinary individuals who live life intentionally, create social impact, and inspire others.  Last year, she was selected to be part of the American Film Showcase.
